Postcards, calendar and exhibitions

I have spent half of 2012 living in Ishinomaki city, Japan. First running a month long interactive light projection project and following that, making friendships with many local people, and developing some future projects. The first such project is a series of photographs I took over the spring and summer of sunlight in Ishinomaki. These photographs are being printed as a 2013 calendar and a series of postcards now. With a donation being made from the sale of each calendar and postcard to a citizen group which will help restore a historic church building badly damaged by 2011′s tsunami. The building was the focus of my light projection ceremony project held in April/May this year. For more information about this please visit

I am also working with 3 galleries, Gallery éf in Asakusa Tokyo, Gaffa gallery in Sydney, and Hiyori Art Center in Ishinomaki to create a series of exhibitions of the photographs.

Gallery éf in Asaukusa is a beautiful gallery in an old kura/storehouse built in the late 1800′s and surviving through wars, earthquakes and fires, it is a very special place and I am honoured to work with Izumi on the exhibition in October/November 2012. It will include the photographs printed on traditional Japanese paper and illuminated like lanterns, 2 video works from Ishinomaki will be also included, collaborations with musicians from Ishinomaki and Kagoshima. Opening event date will be confirmed soon.

Gaffa gallery in Sydney will be in January 2013, and will present the photographs and video in the old police building in central Sydney city.

Hiyori Art Center in exhibition and residency will be held in April/May in Ishinomaki and will develop further the photographs, video’s and collaborations with local musicians and artists.

Details for the online shop for purchasing the postcards and calendar will be available soon.
